Shrimp
Description
The shrimps are small decapod crustaceans, with a long and compressed body that usually measure about 12 cm in length. During the day they bury themselves in the sand, while at night they go out to look for food, such as molluscs, worms, crustaceans and seaweeds.
Their special organoleptic properties provide a highly appreciated flavour. They also have a high nutritional value due to their high content of low-fat proteins. They provide vitamins such as Vitamin D, B3, B9, B12 and E and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, selenium, sodium, iron, zinc and iodine. They provide omega 3 fatty acids, recognized for their benefits in the prevention of cardiovascular disease because they reduce the levels of the so-called bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol.
